The winter sport season has now concluded and I am happy to report that our teams have again achieved success.
Last week I watched on proudly as some of our netball teams played off in the finals and I am pleased to report that the girls represented the College brilliantly with their honourable approach to the game and their attitudes.
This season we entered 10 teams into the netball competition with all 10 finishing in the top five of their respective divisions – well done girls! Three of our teams took out premierships and I congratulate our 9A team coached by Hannah Priest, our 9B team coached by Nadia Porter and our Open B2 team coached by Mia Thompson-Fitzgerald on their successes.
Our B1 team coached by Tyler Orr and Jess Zadow finished runners-up in their division. I want to thank all the coaches for their support for the girls and it is great that our old scholars make time to coach our teams.
It has also been a strong season for football at Cardijn. While our Year 8/9 boys bowed out early in the knockout season, they finished a commendable 4th in their Saturday morning competition with seven wins and three losses.
Our Open boys’ team have performed exceptionally well winning their Pool B knockout grand final defeating Clare High School. This is our first ever win in a knockout competition. In the Wednesday afternoon competition, they finished runners-up losing to Concordia College. Well done boys!
Our Open Girls football team competed in the knockout season but lost early in the competition. Congratulations to all our football teams.
Our other extracurricular teams also represented the College well and I congratulate them on their efforts and the way they have been outstanding ambassadors for the College.
This week we were excited to welcome students and families from our southern Catholic primary schools who joined us for Cardijn’s Music Night. It was an enjoyable evening of great musical talent on display and a true testament to the dedication and commitment of these students to extra-curricular pursuits.
